Studio Showcase: Selections from All in the Timing Fall ‘05

●2009 Illinois Theatre Festival The final payment for this trip is due on Tuesday 11/25. We have a Thespian meeting that day, so it should be convenient enough. If you are using money from your Fine Arts account, please make sure you arrange that in advance. I cannot get the money from the account on that day.

●Audition information for GREASE!

Students interested in auditioning for Grease will sign up for a 2 hour audition slot on Wednesday 12/3. During that time slot there will be two groups. Each group will do singing/acting as well as dancing. You should dress comfortably while dancing. You will have time to change into dance clothes if you choose.

SINGING/ACTING

1. In this group, students will prepare a selection from the list of songs provided. If you know which character you are most interested in you should choose to sing that song. If you are not sure which character you are interested in, please choose something that you feel comfortable singing. When you are singing the song you are also expected to act out the song. You should not be standing still and singing straight out; you must interpret the song as an actor would do in the role.
2. In addition to the selection of a song from Grease, students will do a 1 minute and under monologue. You can choose from those examples I have included or choose something that is appropriate to the characters you are interested in playing.
3. Everyone will sing and act.

DANCING

1. In this group, students will learn a short movement combination and then present it in small groups.
2. Everyone will dance.

CALL BACKS
If you are called back you will be expected to sing not only the song you sang at auditions, but potentially other songs from the musical. You will also be reading from the script. This is when I begin matching people up together. The best advice I can give you is to become familiar with the music and the characters BEFORE the callbacks. Callbacks are Thursday 12/4 at 3pm in the theatre.

●2008 - 2009 Drama Club Meetings Drama Club will meet on the following Tuesdays during the 2008 - 2009 school year: 8/26, 9/30, 10/28, 11/25, 12/16, 1/27, 2/10, 3/10, 4/21, 5/12. The 4th annual Thespian Induction will take place 5/19. For information on how to become a memeber of the International Thespian Society please come to drama club!
