Article from Antioch Web-page: Written by Mark Thompson Foods 2 students went to the garden the afternoon of August 25 to pick fresh ingredients for bread they baked the next day as part of their unit on yeast and breads. The commons courtyard is home to more than ducks. Its herb garden contains many ingredients used in food preparation: basil, dill, stevia, oregano, parsley, mint and chives. Tomatoes are also ripening at the north end of the courtyard.Wednesday's activity involved pairs of students making two loaves of white bread, one traditional and one shaped and containing their choice of extras. Next up for the Foods 2 class will be cinnamon rolls and calzones. The class' bi-annual chili cook off takes place on September 11, with other classes invited to attend to sample the dishes and vote for their favorites. |
