COURSE OBJECTIVES:
- Develop an employment portfolio
- Write and endorse checks, deposit and withdraw funds and manage a checking account
- Recognize the advantages and disadvantages of using credit
- Learn the types of credit, how it is obtained and how to responsibly manage
- Perform basic sewing repairs such as replacing a button, and use of a sewing machine
- Properly wash, store and care for clothing
- Identify criteria for apartment selections, furnishing and leasing
- Plan and prepare a nutritious meal on a budget
- Strengthen consumer shopping skills
- Identify the rights & responsibilities of a consumer
- Identify community resources and agencies for consumer protection
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
