Course & Activity Guide Description

Antioch Community High School Course & Activity Guide provides the following course description:

Elective 10-12, 1 year 1 credit
This course is a continuation in the field of electronics and related areas. It involves technical study in the areas of electronics circuits, power supplies, and testing equipment. Students will design, construct, test, analyze, and repair electronics work. Students will learn the wiring procedures and requirements for residential construction.

Detailed Course Outline

The following topics are taught in Electronics 2 class:

Review of Electronics 1 material including:
electrical safety, atoms, electronics, and electric charges, different circuits, voltage, and current, conductance and resistance, series circuits, parallel circuits, series-parallel circuits, capacitors, magnetism, circuit diagrams and symbols, soldering, residential wiring, electrical motors

Making circuit boards using various techniques

Wiring and programming Basic Stamp modules

Exploring video game hardware/software

Use of electronics simulation software

Wiring 300-in-1 Electronic Project Lab

Soldering different kits from Chaney Electronics

Assembling/programming LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT robots

Independent projects approved by the instructor
