Helpful Resources:
United Way - The United Way is a resource for many
different community resources which include health, counseling, housing, food,
shelters, and many other topics related to health and human services. You can search providers by specific needs.
Don’t be intimidated by having to check the “I agree” box that pops up when you
get to this site. It is worth it to check it.
Northwest Community Hospital – Information
regarding services for adolescents and families. They have a specific program
for School Refusal Behavior. Type “School Refusal Program” in
the Search box.
Alexian
Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital – Mental health services for children
and adolescents. Multiple programs are available to address anxiety,
depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, school refusal, eating disorders, and
others. (800) 432-5005
Vista Health System – Mental health
services for children, adolescents, adults and families. Vista recently opened an emergency room in
Lindenhurst. They have a program called the Skills Training Program that is
specific to Adolescents. They also offer
inpatient services and parent education classes.
ISBE – Homeless
students – Illinois State Board of Education has information about the
education and laws about homeless children and their educational rights.
Military Family Resources –
Information and resources for our military families.
National Alliance on Mental Illness –
Information about mental health diagnosis, support groups, where to get help,
advocacy, help for family members, or general information.
Parents, Friends, and Families of Lesbians and
Gays – PFLAG is an organization that provides information, resources, and
support for individuals, friends, and family members of those that identify
themselves as gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, transgendered, or are questioning their
sexuality.
Open Arms Mission (Food Pantry and other
Resources) – Open Arms Mission provides a number of supportive services to
our community. They do operate a food
pantry, but also provide links to other resources.
Mano
a Mano – A social service agency that serves
immigrant families (documented and undocumented) and links them to community
resources. Bilingual services, ESL
classes, Information and referral information, Employment Connections, GED
preparation Classes, Health Education Programs, Computer Instruction, Homework
Help Program, Child Care Program and more.
