Graduation in Jeopardy?
For those students whose graduation is currently in jeopardy, their cap and gown will be held until grades can be verified and graduation is confirmed. Verification will take place on Friday, May 22, 2009 or Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at the latest.
Marching Order
By Tuesday, May 26, 2009, students will be able to view the marching order on the web page. This will indicate those students who have earned honor status and give the parent an idea of which side of the aisle their graduate will be seated.
Honor Graduate Status
Students who complete their high school career with a cumulative GPA of 3.6 or higher will earn honor status for graduation. The gray tassel for honor graduates and the gray tassel and white cords for cum laude status will be distributed at rehearsal along with the tickets. Students are to wear their gray tassel to the ceremony and leave their multiple colored tassel at home.
Tickets
Each graduate will be given four (4) tickets. Tickets are only necessary if the ceremony is inside. Extra tickets can be requested during cap and gown pick up. Once all the requests for extra tickets are in, we will determine how the extras will be distributed. Tickets will be distributed at rehearsal.
Graduation Breakfast
The Senior Class is hosting a breakfast for the graduate candidates on the morning of May 28, 2009. This is an optional event for the candidates.
Graduation Rehearsal
Graduation rehearsal is mandatory. Having to work during the rehearsal is not an acceptable reason for missing rehearsal.
Dress Code for Graduation
Wearing of jeans or shorts during the graduation ceremony is prohibited. Boys are to be wearing dress pants and an appropriate shirt. No gym shoes or sandals. Girls are to be wearing appropriate casual-wear. Be careful of the cleavage exposure. No flip-flops or beach wear.
Students who do not meet the dress requirements will be given the opportunity to obtain appropriate clothing by the time the class heads down to the stadium or they will be removed from the marching order.
Graduation Parking
If at all possible, please attempt to reduce the number of cars at graduation. Once the parking lots near the building fill up, they will be closed off. Parking at the lower level of the football stadium will be reserved for handicapped parking. Parking will available at McMillen fields and a shuttle bus will be provided.
