Saint Charles East Indoor 3-10-07
The boy’s track and field team competed at Bergeson Invite, at St. Charles East this past Saturday,
and found themselves among some of the best competition in the state of Illinois.
Andrew Stein was very impressive winning the Triple and placing 2nd in the 55
low hurdles, adding to the teams points were all the relays. Bill Quade, Brian Fuller, Tony Bean and Ethan Hahn improved
there previous indoor 4x800 time by nearly 30 seconds. Keenan Jones, Stein,
Emmanuel Wilhoite, and Frank Soto bested the previous
4x160 relay time. Eddie Xiao, Jon DeGrave, Hahn and
Jones also bested the previous 4x400 time by nearly 25 seconds. The members of
the track and field team continue to improve day after day and are all looking
forward at making a run at success in the up coming outdoor season.
Zion Benton 4-3-07
The Eagles hosted their first dual of the season on April 3, 2007. The Eagles were very impressive to start the
season. They were led by Andrew Stein
(TJ, 300 IH, 110 HH), Jon DeGrave (TJ, 300), Marcell Kirkmanbey (110 HH, HJ),
Frank Soto (Throws), Bill McGrath and a host of others were able to start the
season off the right way, the eagles struggled in the relays but were able to
make up considerable points in the hurdles, jumps and distance events. The Eagles were able to break multiple school
records (5) in their first outdoor meet of the season.
Grant Dual 4-9-07
The Lakes Boys track
team defeated Grant on Monday night by a score of 85 to 61. The eagles were led by event champions,
4x800- (Bill Quade, Tony Bean, Brian Fuller, Ethan
Hahn), 110HH- (Marcel Kirkmanbey), Discus- (Frank
Soto), 4 x200-(Emmanuel Wilhoite, Keenan Jones, Eddie
Xiao, Kevin Guriand), 300 IH- (Jon DeGrave), High Jump- (Sean Hertz) Long Jump- (DeGrave), Triple Jump-(Andrew Stein), 200- (Keenan Jones),
4 x 400-(Fuller, Bean, Hahn, Kyle Gallagher).
The eagles will be at Maine East this Saturday at 9:00 am and at North
Chicago w/Round Lake on
Monday April 16.
Maine East Relays
4-14-07
The Boys track team scored 120 points and finished 2nd
behind Prospect. The Eagles were led by
first place finishes in the: Long Jump Relay (Gomez, Stein, Xiao, DeGrave) Triple Jump (Jones, Xiao, Stein, DeGrave) 4 x 100 (Gomez, Williams, Stein, Gaido) Weight Mens Relay (Soto,
Stone, Ilich, Styx), and a host of 2nd
and 3rd place finishers. The
Eagles had multiple school records fall including the Discus (Soto, 135’6”)
High Jump (Kirkmanbey 6’0”) and the 4 x 400 relay
team of (DeGrave, Jones, Bean, Urbanik)
tied the school record with a second place finish, running a 3:42.00.
Round Lake @ North
Chicago 4-16-07
The Lakes Boys track
team improved to 3-0 in the North Suburban Prairie Division by defeating Round Lake and North
Chicago on Monday night. The Eagles were led by two school record
relays. The 4 x 200 team of: John DeGrave, Eddie Xiao, Emmanuel Wilhoite
and Keenan Jones, ran a winning time of 1:35.00 breaking the previous mark by 2
seconds. The 4 x 400 team of: Bill Quade, Kyle Gallagher, Ethan Hahn, Keenan Jones finished
with a time of 3:40.14 crushing the old record.
The Eagles also saw success in the discus and shot put led by multiple
event champions Frank Soto who bested his previous school record in the discus,
Nick Ilich and Dan Ronsman
also scored in the throws. The distance
team needed to produce in order for the Eagles to remain undefeated and they
did so by sweeping both the 1600 and 3200 and scoring 8 points in the 800. Another highlight for the eagles was the
sprinters, who won every relay against Round Lake, the
sprinters also saw multiple “PR’s” in the 100 and 200 meter sprints. The eagles take on Antioch and
Wauconda at Lakes High
School starting at 4:30 on Monday April 23rd.
Frosh/ Soph Wildcat Relays-
4-18-07
The freshman and sophomore team competed very well on
Wednesday night at Libertyville high
school. The boys were led by the 4 x 100
relay team of Josh Gaido, Andres Calle,
Billy Brown Jr, and Chris Boehm,
the relay took first place among a very impressive field. Other highlights for the Eagles were the 4 x
800 relay team who set a frosh/ soph record going
9:26.00. The Eagles also scored points
in the high jump, pole vault and a host of other relays. The determination and focus the young Eagles
have shown throughout the season has impressed their coaches and is
establishing a great foundation for the years to come, Great job men!
Highland Park
Invite- 4-20-07
In their first true test of the season the Eagles performed
very well and made people take notice of their performances. The highlight of the evening was freshman Marcell Kirkmanbey running a
winning time of 14.9 seconds (state qualifying time) in the 110 High Hurdles, Kirkmanbey edge out 7 other varsity runners who were all
juniors and seniors. The Eagles also
received points in the triple jump led by Andrew Stein and his second place
jump of 41’4”, teammate Jon DeGrave also scored
points in the triple jump going 40’10”.
The same two showed their track speed in the 300 intermediate
hurdles. DeGrave
placed third in a very tough field running a time of 41.1 seconds,
Stein was 5th running a time of 42.60 seconds. The Eagles also saw multiple school records
fall in the 1600 (Ethan Hahn 4:40.00) the shot put (Frank Soto 43’9.5”) the 800
(Brain Fuller 2:06.00) the high jump (Kirkmanbey
6’0”) and the 4 x 100 (Lorenzo Gomez, Marcus Williams, Andrew Stein, Emmanuel Wilhoite). The
Eagles have continued to better themselves in all aspects of track and field
and are poised to make some noise during the month of May.
Antioch/
Wauconda- 4-23-07
The Eagles continued their winning ways by defeating both
Wauconda and rival Antioch. The Eagles were led by event champions in
multiple events including the 4 x 800 relay team, 100 meter dash, 800 meter
dash, 400 dash, pole vault, triple jump, high jump and
the 300 hurdles. The Eagles edged out Antioch by a
score of 81 to 65, they were able to do so not only
with event champions but by scoring important points in second and third
places, it was a true team effort that secured the victory for the Eagles. By scoring points in every event they proved
once again that track is a team sport.
Their care and devotion to each other has propelled the Eagles to record
of 5-0 in the Prairie Division with a win over Vernon Hills on Monday April 30
@ Vernon Hills the Eagles will bring home a division title and prove that hard
work does pay off. One more note of success
has to go to the Frosh/Soph team who remained
undefeated on the season. Their record
now stands at 6-0 overall. Great Job

Grant “Bulldog” Invite- 4-27-07
The Boys track and field team placed first in the Grant
Bulldog invite with a score of 136 points finishing in front of second place
Grant and Third place Wauconda. The Eagles were led by event champions Marcell Kirkmanbey (110 HH)
Andrew Stein (Triple Jump) Brain Fuller (800).
The Eagles were able to score in every event except the 100 meter dash
in route to the victory. The eagles also
saw amazing performances by Jon DeGrave, Bill Quade, Lorenzo Gomez, Marcus Williams, Kevin Guirand, Frank Soto, Ethan Hahn, Eddie Xiao, Tony Bean,
Kyle Gallagher and a host of others. The
Eagles coaching staff is very impressed with the hard work and effort that the
team has displayed on a daily basis. The
Eagles will be competing at the 75th Palatine Relays on Saturday and
are looking to finish off the division title when they take on Vernon Hills on
Monday.
75th Palatine Relays- 4-28-07
The Lakes Boys track
and field team competed in the longest running track meet in Illinois
history on Saturday afternoon. The
Eagles managed to score 18 points in the most competitive meet in the state, which
says a lot about the Eagles. The boys
were able to place 2nd in the triple jump relay, the team of Andrew
Stein, Jon DeGrave and Kevin Guirand
all hit personal bests in route to the 2nd place finish. Stein and Guirand
were joined by Eddie Xiao in the long jump relay were the eagles picked up 6th
place. The Eagles also scored points in
the 200 meter with Emmanuel Wilhoite finishing in 5th
place. The highlight of the meet for the
Eagle came in the 300 IH, DeGrave
powered his way to a 3rd place finish running his personal best of
40.7.

The Lakes Boys
track and field team completed their quest for the divisional title with a
convincing win over Vernon Hills on Monday winning by a
79 points. The Eagles swept five events
on the day- 100, 200, 3200, 300 IH, high jump and the triple jump. The Eagles were led by event champions Andrew
Stein, Jon DeGrave, Kyle Gallagher, Keenan Jones,
Bill McGrath, Emmanuel Wilhoite, Brian Fuller, Nick Ilich, Frank Soto and Dan Kalb. The Eagles were able to win all four Relay’s
setting a school record in the 4x200.
The team of (Jones, Stein, Boehm, DeGrave)
ran an impressive 1:33.9 in route to the win.
The Eagles have all worked together throughout the season to bring home
the first Division Title in the track programs history. This was the second division title in Lakes
High School history (Boys
Basketball 06-07 season). The Boys’ are looking forward to a great
invite season starting with a difficult field at the Pete Reiff
invite at Hoffman Estates High
School on Saturday.

Coach Rowells returned to his high
school and was complimented by how well his team competed. The compliments were well deserved as the Eagles
broke school records in the Discus, 4 x 400, 4 x 800, 400, 300 IH, Triple Jump,
and the 3200. The Eagles were led by
Keenan Jones, Andrew Stein, John DeGrave, Bill Quade, Brian Fuller, Ethan Hahn, Tony Bean, Bill McGrath,
Kyle Gallagher, Eddie Xiao and Frank Soto.
The Eagles finished in 4th place ahead of York and Proviso
East. The Eagles have put themselves in
prime position going into the NSC conference meet next Thursday. The Eagles continue to soar…

Zion Benton HS- 5-10-07
The Eagles finished in 6th place scoring 38.5
points. The Eagles were led by all
conference performers, Bill Quade (3200,1600 relays)
Tony Bean (3200 relay), Brian Fuller (3200 relay) Ethan Hahn (3200 relay, 4th
place Mile), Frank Soto (3rd place discus), Andrew Stein (4th
Triple Jump), John DeGrave (2nd 300 IH,
1600 relay, 5th Triple Jump), Marcell Kirkmanbey (High Jump), Dan Kalb (High Jump), Lorenzo
Gomez, Marcus Williams, Josh Gaido, Kevin Guirand (400 relay), Josh Beckman (5th place
Pole Vault). Keenan Jones stood out for
the Eagles on Thursday night, Jones earned all conference honors in the 400 (4th
place), 200 (6th place) and the 1600 relay (6th place). The Eagles finished the night off by receiving
the first ever Division plaque and the 50 yard line at Zion Benton HS. The Eagles will look to qualify for the state
meet next Friday May 18, 2007
at Vernon Hills
High School.
