Sewing Supplies - Spring 2010 - ACHS
Apparel Construction and Design
- Supplies are due on the dates listed below at the beginning of class. If you have financial problems getting supplies, talk to me by January 11. Remember there is fabric available in the classroom if you are not picky!
- If you plan to wash your project after it is made, you should prewash your fabric in the same way you will wash it after it is constructed. Read the bolt end for directions.
- You may use the same fabric for all items
- Please mark all items with your name!
- Bring supplies in as soon as you get them!
Equipment:
- Straight pins
- Pincushion – I will give you one of the “tomatoes” if you would like that kind.
- Scissors for clipping threads and cutting non fabric items – you can use class good shears for fabric
- Seam ripper
- Marking pen/tailor’s chalk
- Hem gauge
- Tape measureOptional sewing kit available at Wal-Mart – not the best option
Materials for project one – Initial Pillows – due Jan 25 – I will buy the pattern for you, please bring me $1:
- 1 yard of cotton or cotton/polyester woven fabric – no plaid, fleece, velvet, satin or anything other than suggested NOTE: you will need 4 squares measuring about 18” each for 2 pillows – what can you find?
- Matching All-purpose thread
- Optional – contrast color thread for decorative stitching
Materials for project two – Small snap bag – due Feb 1:
- ½ yard of cotton or cotton/polyester woven fabric – no plaid, fleece, velvet, satin or anything other than suggested. You will need 2 pieces about 18” square – what can you find? They can be different colors
- Matching All-purpose thread
Materials for project three – Large Bag – due Feb 8:
- 1-1/4 yards cotton or cotton/polyester woven fabric – 45 or 60 inches wide - no plaid, fleece, velvet, satin or anything other than suggested
- 1-1/4 yards cotton or cotton/polyester woven fabric for the lining – 45 or 60 inches wide – no plaid, fleece, velvet, satin or anything other than suggested
- Matching All-purpose thread
- Extra trim or ribbon as desired
Materials for Pants – Due Feb 22 - I will order the pattern for you – please pay me $1.
- Complete Project Information Worksheet before leaving store!
- Long pants will require about 2 ½ yards of 45” cotton, cotton/polyester woven fabric, no plaid, fleece velvet, satin or anything other than suggested
- Matching All-purpose thread
- 1 yard of 1” elastic
- Extra trim or ribbon as desired
Other project(s) to be announced at a later date. Fleece mittens are an option – bring in ½ yard.
