After The First Death - Robert Cormier's suspense thriller is about a group of terrorists who hijack a bus of young children. Complicated relationships between the characters makes this book interesting and thought provoking.
We'll be doing some research on related topics and presenting that information to the class.
See the class calendar for more information about due dates and assignments.
Click here for the Acrobat PDF file you'll need for this activity. Open it up, fill in a combination of seven letters, numbers, and spaces, and print it out in color.

Poetry - The poetry unit requires each student to learn the literary terms associated with poetry and creative writing, choose a poem, study it and learn about the author, and make a presentation to the class. Click here for the assignment handout. A quiz covering some of the poems as presented in class concludes the unit.
You'll also write a poem of your own, using at least two of the literary terms we've covered. Click here for the poetry writing assignment.
Dead Poets Society
While we're working on writing some poems, we'll be watching Dead Poets Society in class. Click here for an interesting analysis of the movie.
