Classroom Expectations

All students should be in the room when the bell signaling the beginning of class rings.

Any student who is more than ten minutes late for the start of class and is unexcused will be penalized with a zero for the day’s work, and will not be permitted to make up work from the time missed. *Note: The student will still benefit by being there, as he/she will not miss information presented at that time, and will not fall farther behind.

The parent of any student who is registered as UA in the day’s attendance will receive a call from Mr. Gordy. usually within 24 hours of the absence. to let the parent know what the student missed in class that day, and notify the parent of the current status of the student’s grade.

Students should remain in their seats at the conclusion of class until dismissed.  The teacher will dismiss students; the bell merely alerts the teacher to do so.

Students are to bring all supplies to class each day unless instructed to do otherwise by the teacher.  Supplies include the following: books, notebooks, pens, or other materials specifically indicated by the teacher.

All work submitted for a grade (papers, essays, tests, quizzes, etc.) shall be word processed, or hand-written in ink, based on the requirements for that individual project.  The exception to this would be entries made in the students' notebooks that will be used as research notes, examples and material for study purposes — these may be entered using pencil.

Students are responsible for all material and classroom information on a daily basis.  In the event of an excused absence it is the student's, not the teacher's, responsibility to be sure that all the student's work is made up, and that he or she is aware of the information disseminated in class that day.

Late work will be accepted, however, a penalty of one letter grade per each day late will be assessed.  Students who have an excused absence on the day of a deadline will be covered under the provisions explained in the student handbook.

Students who would like to meet with the teacher for tutoring should make arrangements with the teacher in advance.

Students who come in for tutoring will be rewarded with extra credit in the grade book.
