Frequently Asked Questions:

How are books of recent graduates distributed?
Parents or siblings are welcome to pick up the book during distribution hours.  Friends can also pick up the book with a note from the graduate.  Send Mr. Cook an email to make arrangements.

What if I cannot get my book during the scheduled distribution days?
For students no longer at Lakes, books can be left in the main office for pick up.  Students at Lakes will have the books delivered early the following week.

What do I do if I have moved out of the area?
Please contact Mr. Cook to make arrangements for shipping the book.

Are there any extra books for sale?
Yes, there will be a few books for sale.  They will go on sale on Monday, October 5th.  Each year the yearbook staff orders a few books, and there are always some extra books beyond the number that was ordered.  They are first come, first serve, check made out to Lakes or cash to Mr. Cook for $50.00

What are some of the changes and highlights in this book?
Life Through a Lens is 180 pages, 12 pages longer than last year.  We have split the girls and boys cross country teams into separate pages.  We have also expanded coverage on the academics section and student life section.  For the first time, Celebration Day received its own page.  Also, because of an increasing population, we had the largest portrait section we have ever had.

Why is distribution later than in previous years?
We switch over to an online design program last year.  There are a number of benefits to using the online program, however the transition was difficult.  Several of the tasks, like important student portraits and developing the index were completely different than the old program.  These issues have been solved, however.

Why does the book come out in the fall, not at the end of the year?
Yearbooks take about two and a half months to go from files on our computers to a hardcover book.  Modern yearbooks are produced on one of two scheduled.  Our fall delivery book has content from the fall, winter and spring of the 2008-2009 school year, with distribution in the fall of 2009.  If we gave out books in May of 2009, that book would include Spring from the year before, then fall and winter of the 2008-2009 school year.  In this case, the graduating class of 2009 would need to by the 2009-2010 yearbook  to get coverage of their final sports season, prom, and graduation.
